Summer stay in French with Phoebe and Brigette – June 22 to 28, 2026
Brigette's experience report:
Fabuleuse! Fabuleuse! Fabuleuse!
That was our recent week with Helene for myself and my daughter, Phoebe.
I had primarily organised the trip to help Phoebe with her senior school studies in French, whilst I had only just started my French studies 2 months before we came. Helene is a brilliant teacher and expertly managed our different abilities. She exposed us to all sorts of wonderful French resources which I am using now that we are back home and Phoebe has even passed these on to her French school teacher who is also using them in class!
We loved that from the moment we walked out onto the terrace for breakfast each morning we were immersed in the French language and culture. Helene is not only an expert teacher but she is an expert tour guide too! We learnt so much history and French culture from our excursions around beautiful Lyon, and our occasional French movie in the evening!
I know that Lyon is famous for their restaurants but we honestly did not need to visit any of these - Helene is an outstanding French cook and we definitely never went hungry!!!
Above all though, I think Phoebe and I just loved our time with Helene and her husband Lolo. They are just such good fun with a fabulous sense of humour and made it so easy for us to try and speak French. As someone who arrived with very minimal French I absolutely felt like I had massively improved by the end of the week. Phoebe is still saying how much she knows she has improved and how fantastic the entire week was with Helene and Lolo (and Gaston the dog too! 🤣) … we want to go back!!!
